Williston-Elko suffers seventh straight loss on the road

If the Williston-Elko Blue Devils were feeling good off their 54-16 takedown of the Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Williston-Elko was just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 46-45 to Calhoun County. Williston-Elko has struggled against Calhoun County recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Calhoun County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cassidy Pough led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Pough has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jatoria McFadden, who scored seven points along with three steals.

Williston-Elko's defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-4. As for Calhoun County, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Williston-Elko will head out on the road to square off against Wagener-Salley at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Wagener-Salley is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. Calhoun County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Ridge Spring-Monetta at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th.
