Basketball Recap: Laurel Highlands Mustangs vs. Uniontown Red Raiders
Laurel Highlands suffered their biggest loss since December 6, 2024 on Friday. They were beaten by the Uniontown Red Raiders 79-49. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Red Raiders recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Luke Martin and Antwan Black certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Martin posted 16 points, while Black earned 11 points. Another player making a difference was Tyrone Burton, who put up six points.
Uniontown had a senior duo take command as Calvin Winfrey went 11 for 18 on his way to 24 points in addition to seven steals and six boards and Tori Grooms dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was Grooms' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelan Milsom, who had 16 points and seven rebounds.
Laurel Highlands' defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Uniontown, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3.
