Volleyball Recap: Smithfield-Selma Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Smithfield-Selma lost against Cleveland back in December of 2020, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Spartans lost 3-0 to the Rams. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-9, 25-11.

Kaylie Gilyardi paced Smithfield-Selma's offense, picking up four kills. Gilyardi got some help from Karmen Cyrus and her ten assists.

Cleveland had a senior duo take command as Olivia Weaver had 11 aces and Addison Evans had 21 assists and four aces. Evans is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 18 or more in each of the last 43 games she's played dating back to last season.

Smithfield-Selma's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Cleveland, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.

Smithfield-Selma has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against South Garner on the 18th. As for Cleveland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Clayton on the 16th.
