Baseball Game Preview: Hillcrest Academy Ravens vs. Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves

Hillcrest Academy has gone 8-1-1 against Winfield-Mt. Union recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Ravens are taking a road trip to face off against the Wolves at 5:30 p.m. Hillcrest Academy's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Winfield-Mt. Union's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Hillcrest Academy was handed a 15-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Lone Tree a 2-0 shutout. The Ravens haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Winfield-Mt. Union was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 11-3 to Central Lee.

Winfield-Mt. Union's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Hillcrest Academy, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Everything went Hillcrest Academy's way against Winfield-Mt. Union in their previous meeting back in June of 2024, as Hillcrest Academy made off with a 12-5 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Ravens since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
