Athenian typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Head-Royce proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Owls, sneaking past 9-7. With that win, the Jayhawks brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Davis Lynch was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Caleb Roth, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Head-Royce always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Head-Royce's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Athenian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-8.

Head-Royce will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Owls: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
