Basketball Recap: Lexington Piles Up the Points Against Lakewood

There's no place like home for Lexington, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They breezed by the Lakewood Gators to the tune of 74-22 on Saturday. That 52 point margin sets a new team best for the Wildcats this season.

Lexington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Keira Bobseine led the charge by going 7 for 10 on her way to 17 points. Those 17 points gave Bobseine a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Saville, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 12 points and five rebounds.

Lakewood's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashley Boatright, who posted seven points. Lauryn Nesmith was another key player, putting up five points.

Lexington's record now sits at 6-2. As for Lakewood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

Lexington wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 60-53 victory against Fort Mill on the 23rd. As for Lakewood, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 41-40 loss against Westwood on the 23rd.
