Football Game Preview: Northwest Vikings vs. Kirkwood Cobras + How To Watch

After each having a week off, the Northwest Vikings and the Kirkwood Cobras will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Northwest has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Kirkwood will arrive with three straight victories.

Two weeks ago, Northwest was beaten by Henry County 52-7. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 279th, while the Patriots are ranked 59th).

Meanwhile, Kirkwood made easy work of Creek Wood two weeks ago and carried off a 35-14 win. Considering the Cobras have won six contests by more than 20 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Kirkwood's win came from a few key players Northwest will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Josiah Claybrooks, who rushed for 154 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry, and also picked up 34 receiving yards. His rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his seventh straight game with at least 100 rushing yards. Miles Reding was another key player, throwing for 213 yards and a pair of TDs on only 18 passes.

Kirkwood's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Northwest, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Northwest was dealt a bruising 30-0 loss at the hands of Kirkwood in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
