Softball Recap: Islip's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Islip can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Kings Park Kingsmen. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 on April 4th.

Lauren Hofmann made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Hofmann was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

Hofmann wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ava Mirenda, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one double and one RBI. Peighton Mckenna was another, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Islip always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory got Islip back to even at 5-5-1. As for Kings Park, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Islip will face off against Shoreham-Wading River at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Buccaneers are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Kings Park, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Smithtown West at 7:00 p.m. on May 3.
