Basketball Recap: Wolsey-Wessington Extends Winning Streak to Four

Wolsey-Wessington came tearing into Saturday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 54-50 W against the Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Rebels. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Warbirds also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Wolsey-Wessington was led to victory by Moshe Richmond and Caleb Richmond. Moshe went 9-for-17 to rack up 25 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals, while Caleb posted 20 points. Those seven steals gave Moshe a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Colin Hughes, who scored two points and five boards.

Wolsey-Wessington pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Sanborn Central/Woonsocket, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-6.

Looking ahead, Wolsey-Wessington will host DeSmet at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Wolsey-Wessington is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.9 points per game this season. As for Sanborn Central/Woonsocket, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 45-42 victory against Wagner on the 11th.
