Softball Game Preview: MMI Preparatory School vs. Wyoming Area Warriors

MMI Preparatory School is 0-5 against Wyoming Area since April of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. MMI Preparatory School will challenge Wyoming Area at 4:15 p.m.

MMI Preparatory School played against Marian Catholic on Wednesday and lost via forfeit.

Wyoming Area came out on top against Old Forge on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Warriors never let the Blue Devils get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by eight runs or more this season.

Not much got past Alexa Gasek, who gave up just three hits to keep Old Forge off the board. Gasek has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Marissa Giardina was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Arianna Gaylord was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Wyoming Area hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The victory made it two in a row for Wyoming Area and bumps their season record up to 10-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for MMI Preparatory School, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-13.

MMI Preparatory School suffered a grim 17-0 defeat to Wyoming Area when the teams last played back in April. Can MMI Preparatory School avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
