Basketball Game Preview: South Coffeyville Lions vs. Nowata Ironmen

South Coffeyville and Nowata are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The South Coffeyville Lions are taking a road trip to face off against the Nowata Ironmen at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Coffeyville has ten straight wins, Nowata has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

It was a proper cat-fight when South Coffeyville faced off against Shidler on Tuesday. South Coffeyville put the hurt on Shidler with a sharp 60-38 victory. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Nowata lost 55-33 to Caney Valley on Tuesday.

South Coffeyville's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 37 points. As for Nowata, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9-1.

South Coffeyville lost to Nowata on the road by a decisive 40-24 margin in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can South Coffeyville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
