Softball Recap: Dwight Morrow Comes Up Short

Dwight Morrow had lost ten straight at home dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 0-9 to make it 11. They came up short against the Ridgefield Park Scarlets, falling 18-1. If the Maroon Raiders were looking for revenge after losing 27-0 to the Scarlets when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Ridgefield Park, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-1. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Ridgefield Park's part, Riley Fucci made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Fucci was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Ivana Capurso was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one triple. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Mayorga, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Looking ahead, Dwight Morrow will venture away from home to take on Tenafly at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ridgefield Park, they will host Westwood at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
