Soccer Game Preview: Yoakum vs. La Vernia

Yoakum is 1-9 against La Vernia since March of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Yoakum Bulldogs will venture away from home to square off against the La Vernia Bears at 7:00 p.m.

Yoakum is likely headed into the game with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Gonzales on Tuesday. Yoakum took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gonzales.

Meanwhile, La Vernia waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Minutemen as they made off with a 5-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won nine contests by three goals or more so far this season.

La Vernia pushed their record up to 14-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 17 goals over those three games. As for Yoakum, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12.

Yoakum suffered a grim 5-1 defeat to La Vernia in their previous meeting back in February. Can Yoakum avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
