It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Princeville ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They beat the Delavan Panthers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 3-1. This was payback for the Princes, who suffered a 12-6 loss the last time these two teams met.
Ella Buckley made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Buckley was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
Buckley wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ali Ehnle, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
The win made it two in a row for Princeville and bumps their season record up to 7-23. Looking ahead, Princeville will square off against Monmouth United at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Storm have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.71 runs per game on average), something the Princes will no doubt try to take advantage of.
