Softball Recap: Lakewood Comes Up Short

Lakewood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 22-16 to the Lejeune Devil Pups. The Leopards were not able to make up for their defeat to the Devil Pups from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

Caitlyn Bass was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over 4.2 innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

In other batting news, Ryleigh Miller was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring four runs and stealing Two bases. while going 4-for-4. Summerlyn William was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one triple.

Lakewood's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Lejeune, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Lakewood wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 20-2 defeat against St. Pauls on the 3rd. As for Lejeune, they are taking a road trip to challenge Liberty Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
