Baseball Recap: Falkner Has No Trouble Against Wheeler

Falkner made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Wheeler, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Falkner blew past Wheeler 9-3 on Saturday. Considering Falkner has won four games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Gavin Wooley made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. He was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Jaxon McDaniel was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now stole at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Falkner was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Falkner's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Wheeler, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.

Falkner didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 4-3 defeat against New Site on the 1st. As for Wheeler, they will head out on the road to face off against Thrasher at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
