Lake Fenton is on a 14-game streak of home wins, while Clio is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Blue Devils will welcome the Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lake Fenton 3.5, Clio 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Lake Fenton and Powers Catholic meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Saturday. The Blue Devils came out on top against the Chargers by a score of 6-1. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Avery Heil (2027) was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Clio got the win against Brandon on Monday by a conclusive 15-1. With that win, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
The team relied heavily on Kelcy Sperling, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Layla Hutchinson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
Clio was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Clio is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Lake Fenton, their win bumped their record up to 22-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Lake Fenton hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Clio struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
