Basketball Recap: Newman AA Beats Brimmer & May for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Newman AA waltzed into their matchup on Sunday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with an 86-74 victory over the Brimmer & May Gators.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Newman AA to victory, but perhaps none more so than Riley Deering, who went 9-for-12 en route to 20 points and seven boards. Deering is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 18 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Taylor, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds.

Newman AA smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Newman AA's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-7. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33.5 points. As for Brimmer & May, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.

Looking ahead, Newman AA will face off against Non Varsity Opponent at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Brimmer & May, they will head out to challenge Tilton School at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
