Baseball Recap: Western Heights Drops Highest Score of Season Against Del City

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Western Heights). They blew past the Del City Eagles 25-6 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Jets, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Akin Aguillard and Jacob Bohnstedt made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Aguillard pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Bohnstedt struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. At the plate, Aguillard went 3-for-6 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Bohnstedt went 1-for-6 with three RBI and two runs. Western Heights is 3-1 when Aguillard posts three or more RBI, but 8-10 otherwise.

In other batting news, Western Heights got a massive performance out of Caden Wiebusch, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. Wiebusch has become a key player for the Jets: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 8-11 otherwise. Keziah Howell was another key player, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double.

Western Heights is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Del City, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-23.

Western Heights has already played their next contest, a 10-7 win against Anadarko on the 17th. As for Del City, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 13-11 victory against Little Axe on the 17th.
