While Smyrna put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Newark Charter School. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Patriots 1-0. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 5-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

The win made it two in a row for Smyrna and bumps their season record up to 4-14. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Newark Charter School, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-7.

Smyrna will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Patriots: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
