Baseball Recap: Cordia Triumphs

Cordia posted their closest win since May 1, 2024 on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Cedar View Christian Seahawks 5-4.

Riley Melton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 15 Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Bryson Perkins, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Cory Dobson, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Cordia's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Cedar View Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Cordia will take on Claiborne at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cedar View Christian, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Berean Academy at 11:00 a.m. on the 12th.
