Baseball Recap: Angola Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Angola can now relate to. They took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger Saints on Saturday. The Hornets have struggled against the Saints recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Jackson Steury was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (three). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Hunter Heisler and JJ Steury stepped up to the plate in a big way. Heisler went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI, while Steury got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Leach, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Angola's defeat dropped their record down to 11-15. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 22-8.

Angola does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, they will square off against Leo at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Saints' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 11 runs per game this season.
