Basketball Recap: Mardela Piles Up the Points Against Washington

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Mardela had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past the Washington Jaguars, posting an 83-47 win. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season.

Mardela was led to victory by Jo'Ziah Sherwood and Zyair Johnson. Sherwood dropped a double-double with 23 points and 18 boards, while Johnson shot 65% from the field on his way to 26 points along with six assists and six steals. Thanks to that strong game, Johnson now owns an excellent 45% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Darion Collins, who went 7-for-12 en route to 18 points and five steals.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Mardela was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They are 11-2 when they've passed the ball that well.

Mardela has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points over those games. Washington is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-21.

Mardela has already played their next match, a 69-54 defeat against Snow Hill on the 4th. Washington does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
