Basketball Game Preview: Fairmont Firebirds vs. Miamisburg Vikings

The Fairmont Firebirds will venture away from home to challenge the Miamisburg Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fairmont will be strutting in after a victory while Miamisburg will be coming in after a defeat.

Fairmont will head into Wednesday's contest on the come-up: they were handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Northmont on Wednesday. Fairmont blew past Northmont 58-33. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Firebirds have posted since February 29, 2024.

Miamisburg has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were outmatched by Northmont and fell 67-36. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Vikings came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while the Thunderbolts are ranked 382nd).

Miamisburg's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Fairmont, they moved to 4-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Fairmont ended up a good deal behind Miamisburg when the teams last played back in January of 2024, losing 73-57. Can Fairmont avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
