Basketball Recap: Brayden Madrid Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat IDEA Monterrey Park College Prep

IDEA Monterrey Park College Prep typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday KIPP University Prep proved too difficult a challenge. They managed a 53-49 win over the IDEA Monterrey Park College Prep Bears. KIPP University Prep pushed the score to 44-22 by the end of the third, a deficit IDEA Monterrey Park College Prep cut but never quite recovered from.

KIPP University Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brayden Madrid, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards. Madrid is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ashton Apolinar, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 13 points.

KIPP University Prep's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for IDEA Monterrey Park College Prep, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-7.
