Recap: McQueen Lancers vs. Spanish Springs Cougars
The McQueen Lancers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Spanish Springs, falling 54-25. While losing is never fun, McQueen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while Spanish Springs is ranked 14th).
Caitlin Hilson and LaQuaya Tillman certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Hilson scored six points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks, while Tillman scored six points along with two steals.
It was another big night for Layni Noonkester, who scored 14 points along with four steals for Spanish Springs. Noonkester is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Allison Hayes was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
McQueen has not been sharp recently as the team's lost ten of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for Spanish Springs, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-10.
McQueen will be playing at home against Reno at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Reno is coming into the game with four straight losses on the road, meaning McQueen will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. As for Spanish Springs, they will take on Reed at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
