Football Recap: Somerset Academy Skates Past Pompano Beach with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Somerset Academy). They breezed past the Pompano Beach Golden Tornadoes to the tune of 55-7 on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Panthers needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Somerset Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Matthew Pierre and Kaj Baker. Baker also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Somerset Academy is 2-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Baker got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The win got Somerset Academy back to even at 3-3. As for Pompano Beach, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Somerset Academy will host Somerset Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pompano Beach, they will venture away from home to square off against Hollywood Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Tornadoes will be up against the Spartans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 43 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
