Softball Game Preview: Salem Blue Devils vs. Concord Crimson Tide

The Salem Blue Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Concord Crimson Tide at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Salem will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Salem proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 15) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Spaulding 5-4.

21 must be Concord's lucky number: they beat Nashua North with that score not once but twice on Wednesday. The Crimson Tide blew past the Panthers 21-6. Considering the Crimson Tide have won eight games by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jaylyn Wessling and Natalee Rowell made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Wessling pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Rowell tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. At bat, Wessling went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double, while Rowell went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Those three hits gave Rowell a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cam Dubois, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kiley Taylor, who went 3-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Concord always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .744. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Salem's record now sits at 6-2. As for Concord, their record is now 9-2.

Salem couldn't quite finish off Concord when the teams last played back in May of 2025 and fell 5-3. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
