Valentine hadn't done well against Stuart recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Valentine walked away with a 2-0 victory over Stuart. Valentine was shut out 2-0 the last time they took on Stuart, so Valentine was just returning the favor.

Valentine easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-18.

Mia Sherbeyn paced Valentine's offense, picking up 12 kills. Sherbeyn got some help from Devahney Belville and her 26 assists. Sherbeyn was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Valentine's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Stuart, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

Coincidentally, Valentine and Stuart will both be playing Sandhills/Thedford the next time they take the court. Stuart will head out to face Sandhills/Thedford at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Valentine will play them later in the day, at 6:00 p.m.
