Basketball Recap: Brunswick Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

Brunswick extended their road winning streak to five games thanks to a huge performance from Patrice Mungin. The Brunswick Pirates blew past the Statesboro Blue Devils 64-40 on Saturday thanks in part to Mungin, who went 12 for 17 en route to 26 points and three steals. She is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games.

The team also got some help courtesy of Martin Davis, who posted eight points in addition to ten assists and seven rebounds. Davis is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gerziya Haggray, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 14 points and three steals. That was a full 35% of Statesboro's points, marking the third time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. Lindsay Johnson was another key player, putting up eight points and seven boards.

Brunswick's win bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Statesboro, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-11.

Brunswick will take on South Effingham at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Brunswick knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully South Effingham likes a good challenge. Statesboro has already played their next game (against Josey), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
