Alleghany is 0-5 against Surry Central since March of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Alleghany Trojans will challenge the Surry Central Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Trojans fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Wednesday's season opener. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Bishop McGuinness on Wednesday, sneaking past 7-6. The victory was some much needed relief for the Trojans as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season.

William Billings was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Billings was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Damon Davis, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was John Lemasters, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Surry Central hadn't done well against Mount Airy recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Everything went Surry Central's way against Mount Airy as Surry Central made off with an 11-1 win. The game was the first time the Golden Eagles have beaten the Granite Bears on their field since April 25, 2018.
Like Alleghany, Surry Central also got a great game from a two-way player: Jackson Wilmoth. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. That's the fewest hits Wilmoth has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Surry Central let Eric Branch and Will Pardue run wild. Branch went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run, while Pardue went 1-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Dru Gaddy was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Alleghany suffered a grim 17-1 defeat to Surry Central when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Alleghany avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
