Football Recap: Arvada West Falls Short Against Ranked Mountain Vista + How To Watch

Arvada West faced Mountain Vista in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Wildcats lost 27-6 to the Golden Eagles. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Golden Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Even if they lost, Arvada West's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Alex Antill was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up three herself. Antill is crushing it when it comes to sacks: she's posted at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

Mountain Vista's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ariana Akey, who threw for 261 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 73 yards. Akey also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack and making 11 total tackles. Mountain Vista's leading receiver Kayleigh Besch was Akey's top target yet again, picking up 149 receiving yards and one TD.

Arvada West now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Mountain Vista, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.
