Tarboro posted their biggest win since January 4th on Friday. Everything went their way against the Perquimans Pirates as the Tarboro Vikings made off with an 81-59 victory. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 186th, while the Pirates are ranked 554th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Perquimans lost, don't look at Xavier Spellman. Despite the final result, he posted 16 points and six assists. The contest was Spellman's third in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Nixon, who had 12 points in addition to five boards and three blocks.

Tarboro's win bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Perquimans, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-18.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Bertie the next time they take the court. Tarboro will host Bertie at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Perquimans will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
