Basketball Recap: Braden Miller's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mesquite over ALA - Queen Creek

Mesquite was the 61-50 winner over ALA - Queen Creek when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Mesquite Wildcats took a 76-71 hit to the loss column at the hands of the ALA - Queen Creek Patriots. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (56), the Wildcats still had to take the loss.

Mesquite's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braden Miller, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 rebounds gave Miller a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kobe Bradley, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 22 points and six rebounds.

Mesquite's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for ALA - Queen Creek, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.

Mesquite will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Saguaro at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. ALA - Queen Creek will also get a bit of a break before their next contest: they'll face off against ALA - Gilbert North at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025.
