            New Brighton hasn't had much luck against Our Lady of the Sacred Heart recently, but that could start to change  on Thursday. The Lions will venture away from home to  square off against the Chargers  at 6:15  p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Wednesday, New Brighton got the win against Northgate  by a conclusive  14-2. The  win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Flames: they've now won nine in a row.

 Gaige Kovach made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he  didn't allow a single  earned run while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-4 with two  runs and one  double. Those  two  hits gave  him a new career-high.
 In other batting news,  Casey Bloom and  Jaxson Zahn did most of the damage at the plate:  Bloom  went 3-for-5 with four  RBI, two  doubles,  and one  triple, while  Zahn  went 3-for-5 with three  runs, three  RBI,  and two  doubles. That's the most  runs  Zahn has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of  Jaleb Bailey, who  went 1-for-3 with two  stolen bases and one  RBI.
 Meanwhile, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart got themselves on the board against South Side on Wednesday, but South Side never followed suit. They were the clear victors by  a  12-0 margin over the Rams. The  victory made it back-to-back  wins for the Chargers.
 New Brighton's record is now 8-5. As for Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, their record now sits at 9-5.
 New Brighton suffered a grim  10-2 defeat to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart  in their previous matchup  back in May of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
