Football Recap: Middletown Takes a Loss

Middletown extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 3-4. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 27-26 heartbreaker at the hands of the Line Mountain Eagles. Despite 108 more yards than the Eagles, the Blue Raiders couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Middletown lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Luis Roman, who rushed for 101 yards and two scores. He was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. Gavin Paul was another key player, rushing for 117 yards and one TD on only nine carries.

As for Line Mountain, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Those 27 points were actually the fewest they have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Line Mountain to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaiden Maurer, who threw for 105 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 49 yards and one score.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Middletown will venture away from home to challenge East Pennsboro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Line Mountain, they will head out to square off against James Buchanan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
