Recap: Strom Thurmond Rebels vs. Silver Bluff Bulldogs
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Strom Thurmond Rebels ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They walked away with a 59-50 victory over Silver Bluff. The win was nothing new for Strom Thurmond as they're now sitting on three straight.
Strom Thurmond's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Quan Edmond, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Edmond has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Roosevelt Walker, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
Silver Bluff lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Justin Perry, who scored eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Devonta Parker, who scored eight points.
Even though they lost, Silver Bluff smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Strom Thurmond only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
Strom Thurmond is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. As for Silver Bluff, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Strom Thurmond will square off against Fox Creek at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Fox Creek is on a nine-game streak of home wins, Strom Thurmond a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Silver Bluff, they will head out on the road to challenge Pelion at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Silver Bluff is facing Pelion at the right time seeing as Pelion is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
