League recap: Woodward Academy wins, gets boost in standings

Woodward Academy was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in AAA Region 6. The War Eagles vanquished Westminster 24-3 earlier in the week.

Decatur moved up to 208 from 273 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 27-7 win over Clarkston helped the Bulldogs improve their standing.

Blessed Trinity's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Titans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Spencer McManes has thrown for 182 yards and two touchdowns this season, while John Davis has six catches for 55 yards. Milton Shelton leads the league in rushing with 229 yards.

A big matchup in AAA Region 6 this week will be when Woodward Academy takes on Blessed Trinity. Ryan Davis's team is in first place, while the Titans are in fifth place.

McNair and Business Engineering Science Tech played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with McNair eventually emerging with a 33-32 victory.
