Recap: Voyageur Academy Cougar vs. Bowman Academy Eagles
It was a good run, but the Voyageur Academy Cougar unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 79-71 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bowman Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Bowman Academy was led to victory by Jamarie Pollard and Jalen Branham. Pollard scored 22 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Branham dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Branham has scored all season. Nickolas Black was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 16 rebounds.
Voyageur Academy's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-4. As for Bowman Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Voyageur Academy will take on Detroit Leadership Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Detroit Leadership Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 581st, while Voyageur Academy is ranked 204th). Bowman Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Illiana Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th.
