Recap: Stratford Knights vs. Cane Bay Cobras
The Stratford Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their eighth straight loss. They were outmatched by Cane Bay at home and fell 84-57. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Stratford in their matchups with Cane Bay: they've now lost five in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Stratford lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nizhier Baldwin. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Amari Washington, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds.
Isaac Smalls was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds for Cane Bay. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smalls has scored all season. Landon Davis was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six assists and four steals.
Stratford has been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Cane Bay, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stratford will face off against Goose Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Goose Creek has insisted on making their lastfour contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 0-4 during that stretch of close contests. As for Cane Bay, they will head out on the road to face off against Berkeley at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Berkeley will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive.
