Basketball Recap: Jabien Harris' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ridgeland over Denmark-Olar

Ridgeland lost against Denmark-Olar last Thursday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Ridgeland fell 54-45 to the Denmark-Olar Vikings. While losing is never fun, Ridgeland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 280th, while Denmark-Olar is ranked 115th).

Several Ridgeland players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jabien Harris, who posted 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Sanders, who scored 12 points.

Joshua Goodman continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Denmark-Olar, dropping a double-double on 31 points and 14 rebounds. Goodman is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Robert Bovain, who had four points and 12 rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Ridgeland and nudges their season record down to 3-15. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-8 Bamberg-Ehrhardt (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 63.3% over those games). As for Denmark-Olar, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ridgeland will square off against Allendale-Fairfax at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Denmark-Olar, they will challenge Bamberg-Ehrhardt at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bamberg-Ehrhardt will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Denmark-Olar surely won't give up without a fight.
