Softball Recap: Saugerties Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Saugerties barely beat New Paltz the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Sawyers were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Huguenots on Wednesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Sawyers, who have now won three contests in a row.

Alaina Conrad spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Saugerties got a big performance out of Lily Malgieri, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that Malgieri launched this season. Elizabeth Sullivan was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Saugerties now has a winning record of 3-2. As for New Paltz, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 3-2.

Coming up, Saugerties will venture away from home to square off against Guilderland at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for New Paltz, they are taking a road trip to take on Beacon at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. The Huguenots are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
