Baseball Recap: Madison Has No Trouble Against Santana

Madison made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Santana, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Madison put the hurt on Santana with a sharp 8-0 victory on Monday. The Warhawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by eight runs or more this season.

Not much got past Jeremiah Jennings, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep Santana off the board. Furthermore, Jennings didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Leo Wilderman was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Ryan Jackson, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Wilderman wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Madison kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matchups.

Madison is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. Santana is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Looking ahead, Madison will welcome Steele Canyon at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Santana, they are taking a road trip to square off against San Ysidro at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. San Ysidro will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Santana surely won't give up without a fight.
