Basketball Recap: J.P. Stevens Comes Up Short

J.P. Stevens was the 54-38 winner over Metuchen when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The J.P. Stevens Hawks took a 45-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Metuchen Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 305th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 110th).

Metuchen's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jason Woods led the charge by going 6 for 15 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Reece Osborn-Jones, who posted 11 points.

J.P. Stevens is on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-6. As for Metuchen, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

J.P. Stevens didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 67-55 loss against Bernards on the 30th. As for Metuchen, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 59-23 defeat against Johnson on the 30th.
