                     Western couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were dealt  a  43-7 defeat at the hands of the Tri-West Hendricks Bruins on Friday. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at  34-7.
  Kyler Norman made four total tackles.  On the ground, 
 Matthew Mckitrick rushed for 54 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
  Malachi Walden was a one-man wrecking crew for Tri-West Hendricks as he rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, and also threw for 118 yards and a touchdown while completing 81.8% of his passes. Walden's longest rush was for an impressive 59 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another player making a difference was  Derek Reid, who rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns.
 Western will face off against Western Boone at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. As for Tri-West Hendricks, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.
