Baseball Game Preview: Kansas City East Christian Academy Lions vs. Wichita Defenders HomeSchool Defenders

The Kansas City East Christian Academy Lions are taking a road trip to challenge the Wichita Defenders HomeSchool Defenders at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Kansas City East Christian Academy will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Kansas City East Christian Academy made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Faith Christian Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Lions put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 10-0 win on Monday. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by ten runs or more this season.

Braeden Jenkins was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Jenkins was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Robert Carpenter was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jude McKnight, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

Kansas City East Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .517 or higher in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Wichita Defenders HomeSchool unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Mary's Academy two weeks ago.

Kansas City East Christian Academy's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Wichita Defenders HomeSchool, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

Kansas City East Christian Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Wichita Defenders HomeSchool in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 12-11.
