Softball Game Preview: Norte Vista Braves vs. Heritage Patriots

The Norte Vista Braves will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against the Heritage Patriots at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, neither Norte Vista nor Indian Springs could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 6-6 draw.

Meanwhile, Heritage had to endure a 21-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on Citrus Hill with a sharp 22-1 win on Tuesday. The Patriots' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Delilah Diaz made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Diaz was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. That hit was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Aryah Phiakeo was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those RBI marked the first that she brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Persia Ponce, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4.

Heritage always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .703. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Citrus Hill only posted an OBP of .318.

Norte Vista's tie gives them a new season record of 0-2-1. As for Heritage, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.
