Softball Recap: Dover-Eyota Gets the Win

Dover-Eyota's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They never let the Pine Island Panthers get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. Considering the Eagles have won eight contests by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Aubrey Foster was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Payton Oeltjen, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Olivea Banitt was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Dover-Eyota was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pine Island only posted a batting average of .200.

Dover-Eyota's record now sits at 12-5. As for Pine Island, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dover-Eyota will challenge Cannon Falls at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pine Island, they will square off against Stewartville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
