Baseball Recap: North Mecklenburg Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mallard Creek, North Mecklenburg was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the R.J. Reynolds Demons by a score of 6-2.

Alex Beall spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February.

On the hitting side, Ryan Clark was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aaron Montoro, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Clark wasn't the only one working in the hit department: North Mecklenburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. North Mecklenburg is 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

North Mecklenburg is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. R.J. Reynolds' defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Mecklenburg will head out to square off against Mallard Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. North Mecklenburg's pitchers better be ready for this one: Mallard Creek has averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for R.J. Reynolds, they will venture away from home to take on Glenn at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. R.J. Reynolds is facing Glenn at the right time seeing as Glenn is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
