Baseball Game Preview: Geneva Eagles vs. Incarnate Word Academy Angels

The Geneva Eagles will head out to take on the Incarnate Word Academy Angels at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Geneva has five straight wins, Incarnate Word Academy has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Geneva's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on John Paul II with a sharp 17-0 victory. The game marked the Eagles' most dominant win of the season so far.

Meanwhile, Incarnate Word Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Holy Cross last Friday and fell 11-9.

Maddox Luera made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Jude Nerrios also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Geneva's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Incarnate Word Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.

Everything went Geneva's way against Incarnate Word Academy in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Geneva made off with an 8-2 victory. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Angels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
